There are an endless number of retaining wall design options for your Brisbane property. The type of wall you need will be determined by the soil and the amount that needs to be retained. However, this still leaves a lot of flexibility in your choices. Some of our more popular projects have been built from sandstone or rocks, but we have built many from boulders, concrete, gabions, dry stone, bricks and timber over the years. Then of course, there’s gravity, anchored, cantilever and sheet pile retaining walls.
- Gravity retaining walls (also known as crib walls) are built with a slight backwards lean and a thicker base, because it uses its weight to hold back the soil.
- Anchored retaining walls are made from concrete and use cables to strengthen the wall that needs to hold back a substantial amount of soil.
- Cantilever retaining walls are reinforced with shaped footings or steel rods and are commonly used in large commercial developments to hold back massive amounts of soil.
- Sheet pile retaining walls use cables to provide additional strength to the wall because it’s built on soft soil that doesn’t provide a firm foundation or there’s an issue with space.
